Cannon Beach Oregon ... Thursday 700am 28May2009. Temp - 45. Sunrise 531a. Sunset 854p. The weather gods are smilin'. The lush natural vegetaion and landscaping are a sight to behold. Photo 1 is looking south from the curves at Haystack Rock. The tide is out. Photo 2 is of Hallmark Resort from the foot of Sunset Blvd. Photo 3 is Downtown of The Purple Pelican, Steidel's Art and the Coaster Theatre. Photo 4 is Hemlock Street Downtown looking North. Cannon Beach Oregon ... Thursday 700am 21May2009. Temp - 45. Sunrise 537a. Sunset 847p. It's good to be alive this morning. It started out cool, but is warming up fast. Photos 1 and 3 are from the curves by Haystack Rock. Photo 2 is in Midtown of the Liquor Store and Copies and Fax. I liked the early morning lighting and the color in the flowering trees. Photo 4 was shot yesterday morning at the Cannon Beach Elementary School. This is the sixth year I have take this same photo. 12x16 prints of all of them can be seen on the wall in the entry to the office at the school. Mrs Miller brought her kindergartners into my gallery last week to complement instruction she was giving them on photography. For today's surf shot go to the SurfCam page. Cannon Beach Oregon ... Saturday 800am 16Mayl2009. Temp - 48. Sunrise 543a. Sunset 841p. Beautiful morning. Biked south on the beach past Silver Point and Humbug Point to Hug Point. The falls at Hug Point are in photos #3 and #4. Photo #1 is also at Hug Point. The three people in the photo are walking on what was a stage coach trail blasted out of solid rock near the turn of the century. Most points were passable during low tide, but Hug Point seldom was. Photo #2 is Lion Rock at Humbug Point. I mentioned last week having a problem with my bike. Turns out it can't be fixed. The threads are corroded away. It is the 3rd bike that I have had to retire. In spite of spraying my bike off after each use, and applying Tri-Flo to the chain and other moving parts regularly, the salt water and air eventually take their toll. But I love riding and photographing in the surf, so won't be stopping soon. For today's surf shot go to the SurfCam page. Cannon Beach Oregon ... Saturday 800am 09Mayl2009. Temp - 48. Sunrise 551a. Sunset 832p. Minus low tide this morning at 730. I rode my bike down to Haystack Rock but had to push it back. The pedal crank gave way. I ride in the surf on a regular basis so bike maintenance is a regular occurance. Beautiful morning on the beach. Bright sun, but a cool breeze out of the north. Today photos feature some of the HRAP folks. (Haystack Rock Awareness Program) Nala, on the left in photo 2 is the program director. Next to her is Jenee who is a volunteer. The Tufted Puffins are back, building their nests getting ready to raise new chicks. A Canadian Geese couple has taken residence on the Rock this year.
