Cannon Beach Oregon .. Tuesday 830am 21Jun2011. Temp - 60. Sunrise 525a. Sunset 910p. Summer Solstice. The longest day(light) of the year. Sun sets at 910pm. Great start for Summer 2011. I love the wispy clouds against the deep blue sky. Just the kind of scenery we'd like to see this weekend for Plein Air & More. This is the 3rd year of this art event for Cannon Beach. 20 Artists representing Cannon Beach galleries will be about town painting, sculpting, photographing, etc. To join me on my shoot of the art in progress, meet me at myh gallery at 2pm on Saturday. Cannon Beach Oregon .. Thursday 7am 16Jun2011. Temp - 58. Sunrise 525a. Sunset 908p. One of the lowest tides of the year this morning. Arch Cape is named for an arch that few people have ever seen. It is only visible by walking around the point at the south end of the beach. It is only during very low tides that one is able to walk around that point. Today was one of those days. Photo 1 is my favorite view. It is from the north. Photo 2 is the large rock just off the point before the arch. Photo 3 is from the south as is Photo 4. Just last summer, there was sand over much of the rocks and walking around was much easier. Today there was no sand once you got to the point. The solid rock cliff at the point is straight up a couple hundred feet. The point contains rocks of all sizes and shapes - some are as big as cars. For today's surf shot go to the SurfCam page. Cannon Beach Oregon .. Friday 230pm 03Jun2011. Temp - 65. Sunrise 528a. Sunset 859p. Feels and looks like summer out there today. A very welcome site indeed. Especially for my birthday. I bought myself a new camera. These photos are with the new camera. It is a Nikon D3s. I've been lusting after this camera for quite some time. It replaces my D2Xs. I'll be selling my D2Xs for $1000 ($4600 new) and the Nikon 18-200mm lens I always use with it for $600 ($750 new). I'll sell the two together for $1500 and will throw in some filters. I have original boxes, manuals, etc for everything. The D3s is a full frame camera and I will need to buy a new lens for it. For today's surf shot go to the SurfCam page.
