Cannon Beach Oregon .. Sunday 9am 14Aug2011. Temp - 65. Sunrise 618a. Sunset 828p. Minus low tide this am. Mild temp, but no sun early. Even so, some interesting images today. #1 is the morning Haystack Ride from Sea Ranch Stables. Good day for that. Photo #3 is one of our locals launching his dory boat at Haystack Rock. With a little luck and a lot of skill, they bring home some salmon and some bottom fish for dinner and the freezer. Photo #4 is a colony of starfish and other sea creatures that can only be truly appreciated during low tides - the lower the better. We have had quite a bit of sand build up in recent weeks which has allowed access to rocks and areas normally surrounded by water. Cannon Beach Oregon .. Monday 10am 01Aug2011. Temp - 60. Sunrise 558a. Sunset 847p. After a few days starting out foggy, this am is clear and beautiful. The minus low tide was at 9am. There is considerable sand built up on the beach, especially around Haystack Rock. The close Needle was reachable. The puffins at the Rock are busy tending to their nests. By now the eggs should be laid with one of the pair keeping them warm all the time. Haystack Rock Awareness volunteers are at the rock with information and often viewing scopes at all daylight low tides. For today's surf shot go to the SurfCam page.
