"Sam's Dragon", the community sand sculpture built yesterday, survived through the night and the light rain with only slight damage. Sam's Dragon is a prelude to this weekend's 46th annual Sandcastle Contest. Two master plots will begin sculpting at 930am with others beginning at 1030am just north of Haystack Rock. All sculpting is to be complete and judged by 130pm and all cars off the beach by 3pm to avoid the tide. From the beach to the dowtown park for a barbeque on the steps of the Information Center and a concert in the band shell.
