Cannon Beach, Oregon. 333 fun-loving, community-spirited townspeople joined their friends and neighbors for the second town photo in recorded history. Town Photo 2003 was the first. Many thanks to all who came out to take part in this historic and fun experience. Special thanks to Debbie Nelson and Basketcase for organizing and coordinating the days activities, to Bill and Sam Steidel for the drawings and concept for Gulliver and for directing the sculpting, to the sculptors (see photo below), to John Nelson and his Coaster Construction crew who spent the afternoon helping with the sculpture and who supplied the boom/lift that made the Town Photo possible and for the wood to make the bonfire, to Mike McEwan and McEwan Construction for the time and equipment to move and pile tons of sand for the 35-foot long and 8-foot high Gulliver, to Garry Smith and the CB Fire Dept for stretching hose from town to wet the sand for sculpting, to Jim McDonald and Tolovana Inn for supplying and delivering the tent, table, chairs, water, ice, cooler and the bullhorn, to Antoine Simmons and Haystack Lodgings for feeding the work crew with pizza, to Jeff Womack and Copies and Fax for the paper and printing of the signs and numbers, to Kelli Truax-Taylor and Bruce’s Candy Kitchen for s’mores at the bonfire, and to the Fire Department, City, County and State for the permits and cooperative spirit demonstrated in making this day possible. ::: Town Photo in Daily Astorian :::
