The Beach
Cannon Beach is a very small town
with a big beautiful sandy beach. The beach is a huge playground. You could
fill your visit exploring. The number one attraction on the beach is
Haystack Rock. This is a must. At low tide, tide pools abound between all the
rock formations that surround Haystack Rock. To add education to the formula,
check the calendar at
www.cannon-beach.net/hrap for information and the schedule for Haystack Rock Awareness Program. Walking on the beach is great, but so is bicycling. Bring your own, or rent from
Mikes Bike.
Three wheelers are popular and make a great family fun outing. The lower the
tide, the better, (
see tides) since you can get more places. At any low tide, you have
several miles of beach to explore, but during lower tides, you have 7 miles of
amazing exposed rocks, tidepools, wildlife and wonderment. See photos under the
?Haystack Rock? category at

Cannon Beach Rainforest
Another of the beauties of Cannon Beach is how the forest comes right down to the beach. Exploring the rainforest just east of town is a lesson in ancient history. See photos
under the Local Rainforest category at www.cannon-beach.net/photolibrary.html.
The rainforest can be appreciated no matter what the weather.
Downtown
Downtown Cannon Beach is a small compact grouping of shops, galleries, restaurants, motels and the city park. Kids love to play in the park, then go for ice cream or candy and a souvenir t-shirt or sweatshirt. The park includes a playground, ball field, tennis courts, skateboard park and
basketball hoops. Ice cream, candy, and souvenir shirts are available in
various locations within a two minute walk of the park. See photos under the
?Downtown? category at www.cannon-beach.net/photolibrary.html.
