is a very small town
with a big beautiful sandy beach. The beach is a huge playground. You could
fill your visit exploring. The number one attraction on the beach is
Haystack Rock. This is a must. At low tide, tide pools abound between all the
rock formations that surround Haystack Rock. To add education to the formula,
check the calendar at www.cannon-beach.net/hrap
for information and the schedule for Haystack Rock Awareness Program. Walking on the beach is great, but so is bicycling.
Three wheelers are popular and make a great family fun outing. The lower the
tide, the better, (see tides
) since you can get more places. At any low tide, you have
several miles of beach to explore, but during lower tides, you have 7 miles of
amazing exposed rocks, tidepools, wildlife and wonderment. See photos under the
Haystack Rock category at www.cannon-beach.net/photolibrary.html
Cannon Beach Rainforest
Another of the beauties of Cannon Beach is how the forest comes right down to the beach. Exploring the rainforest just east of town is a lesson in ancient history. See photos
under the Local Rainforest category at www.cannon-beach.net/photolibrary.html.
The rainforest can be appreciated no matter what the weather.
Downtown Cannon Beach is a small compact grouping of shops, galleries, restaurants, motels and the city park. Kids love to play in the park, then go for ice cream or candy and a souvenir t-shirt or sweatshirt. The park includes a playground, ball field, tennis courts, skateboard park and
basketball hoops. Ice cream, candy, and souvenir shirts are available in
various locations within a two minute walk of the park. See photos under the
Downtown category at www.cannon-beach.net/photolibrary.html.
